Former Atlanta Braves slugger Hank Aaron took
a few minutes to talk to chapter president Ernie Suggs
at the opening a Negro Leagues exhibit at the Woodruff Library
at the AU Center. Aaron spoke extensively about how the
Negro Leagues influenced him, as well as about the state
of the game now, including the lack of black players
and the lingering steroid problem.
Aaron, had held the
homerun record,
until it was eclipsed by Barry Bonds
last year. Bonds’ name has been liked to
steroid use.

Obama and McCain Sweep 3 Primaries
Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain each swept their primaries last Tuesday to take leads in their respective races for the White House. They now turn their attention to this week’s primaries in Hawaii and Wisconsin. Hillary Clinton, meanwhile, is counting on huge large-state primaries on March 4 in Texas and Ohio to rescue her nomination. On the Republican side, at press time, Mike Huckabee vowed to stay in the race until McCain got the needed number of delegates.
